Transitional Living Center – continuing art program |

Professional artists and educator Kevin Lehman conducted a continuing art program at the Transitional Living Center in Lancaster City. This facility houses displaced persons, veterans, families, as they seek sustainable housing within our community. Bringing the arts to TLC is about improving our community by enabling residence to develop confidence through creativity and to express and communicate their ideas visually.

Lancaster and Lebanon County students participated in an all-day art workshop designed to bring Art History to life! We created Egyptian Amulets, Greek Black-Figure Pottery and Aztec Metalwork. |

Lancaster and Lebanon County students enjoyed an all-day workshop where we focused on all things Gothic! Students created clay Gargoyles, designed and created Stained Glass Windows and built their own Castles complete with battlements and catapults. |

O’Crocs Window of Awareness
November 2nd — November 15th
O, The Oprah Magazine, “100 Women, 100 Shoes” Crocs Contest’s Lancaster winner, Roberta Little, invites you to view O’Crocs Window of Awareness on display at Millersville’s Ware Center, 42 N. Prince St., opening First Friday Gallery Walk, November 2nd from 5-8 PM. This exhibit will end the evening of Thursday, November 15th, following The National Hunger and Homelessness Awareness Benefit Concert sponsored by the Lancaster County Coalition to End Homelessness.
O’Crocs Window of Awareness was designed and constructed by artist, Kevin Lehman, founder of Lancaster Creative Factory, Little’s charity of choice.
Artists: One Hundred Eighty Young Women form Lancaster County Girls on the Run.

The Kids at YIC designed and created a piano for Music For Everyone's Keys to the City Project.
Team leader, Carrie King, explains the individual pianos adorning the large piano reflect the transient nature at YIC. We wanted each resident to leave their mark. Not wanting to risk residents missing any part of the planning process, they were each asked to design their own individual piano, that were then collaged together to represent all the residents, and some YIC staff, that worked on the piano. These kids were incredibly respectful and receptive to this project. A lot of them had seen previous pianos from years before and were really excited to be a part of the project. A lot of the kids and staff enjoyed playing the piano during our sessions. We liked to think about thousands of others in the community also getting to play it all summer long. The group that came up with the word "escape" for the top of the piano said that they wanted people to walk by and be drawn to the piano. There they could escape, through music, from any of the worries of their day.

ArtSmart Mural
“The Miracles Mural,” Dedicated to the Residents of the Lancaster County Youth Intervention Center July 15, 2010.
Designed, created and painted by the residents of the LCYIC
The Miracles Mural was a collaborative effort between the team of ArtSmart Volunteers led by Traci Lutz, Elizabeth (Eli) Weaver, Community Muralist; and Scott Feifer, Writing Circle facilitator.
Residents of LCYIC wrote, brainstormed, sketched, traced and painted “miracles” during Thursday evening sessions of the ArtSmart program.
